Her granddaughter wrote to us as part of "The Name the Jewelry" contest: "Cooper is the last name of my grandmother, who raised five children on her own after her husband abandoned her as she delivered baby number 5. Left poor and alone with 5 children under the age of ten, she never let hardship define her. She worked tirelessly, even taking jobs on the railroads, doing whatever it took to provide for her family. Her strength, perseverance, and determination continue to be my greatest inspiration."
