The Momma's Who Made Us: Meet Rita
As we approach Mother's Day, we are filled with gratitude for the remarkable women who have shaped our lives and inspired our journey. To honor these extraordinary "Mommas Who Made Us," we are thrilled to introduce a special series featuring pieces named after the important mothers in our lives, each with its own unique story to tell.
Meet Rita
Rita is the great-grandmother of a loyal Steward & James customer who wrote to us during the Name the Jewelry Contest. Rita was a beloved grandmother with a passion for both flowers and jewelry. She passed away in 2003, but her spirit lives on through her family.
Her great-granddaughter wrote to us:
Rita was my great-grandmother, a New Orleans native. She always had SO MUCH jewelry around the house when I was growing up. She was spunky and spontaneous and loved to show off her jewelry. My engagement ring diamond is actually from one of her many rings! My great-grandmother also reminds me of spring. She had so many flowers in her garden. Whenever I see gardenias or plumbago I instantly think of her. I thought it would be so neat and special to see her name on a jewelry piece since she loved jewelry and springtime flowers.
The Rita Dogwood Earrings are gold four-petal flowers with a stone center, made for a woman who loved jewelry and spring.
