What is African Turquoise?

African Turquoise is a type of jasper that has been used for thousands of years by indigenous peoples of Africa. It is not actually turquoise. Jasper stones are known for their natural colors and patterns with irregular shapes.

Turquoise vs. African Turquoise

Traditional blue turquoise is a mineral formed from a combination of copper and aluminum phosphate, while African Turquoise is a type of jasper formed from chalcedony. African Turquoise is a harder stone than traditional turquoise, which makes it a little sturdier for everyday wear.

The perfect piece

The greens that come through in African Turquoise are some of the most vibrant colors, and with different shades mixed into one stone, these pieces work for everyday and every occasion. Try the Rita Dogwood Earrings with their stone centers.
